Item Estruturas e formatos organizacionais nas universidades: um estudo sobre a experiência da Faculdade de Letras da Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais(Fundação João Pinheiro, 2009-12-28) Souza, Mary Vieira; Barbosa, Allan Claudius Queiroz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2542913266521798; Costa, Bruno Lazzarotti Diniz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2084604177044476; Costa, Bruno Lazzarotti Diniz; Cruz, Marcus Vinícius Gonçalves da; Barbosa, Allan Claudius QueirozThe objective of this work was to discuss the construction of the new academic and administrative structure process from Faculdade de Letras at University Federal of Minas Gerais (UFMG) - Fale. The new structure, established in 2003, had as main arguments for its approbation: to improve the articulation between teachers beside the scientific objectives, stimulate new perspectives and pedagogical practices, to perfect the collegiate structure of administration and to optimize the utilization of facilities and existent human resources. It is believed that the changes at structure could have been influenced by the universitarian autonomy approach and by adhesion of Fale to the curricular flexibility project from UFMG. Moreover, the new structure may to have collaborated for more integration between knowledge areas, promoted the teacher's self-regulation and reduction of administrative incumbencies. With this intention, one point study was made with qualitative and descriptive features that were utilized, as database, semi-structured interviews, direct observation and analysis of documents and registers. Also, was made one theoretical study about organizational structure nature and the variations around its complexity, formalization and centralization with the objective of explain the structure specifics aspects that determine the organizations capacity to solve important problems as: coordination and control; communication; power distribution and environmental relationship. The variables: complexity; formalization and centralization, used in this paper were based on Hall's (1984) propositions about organizational structures, and the environmental factor was treated from the universitarian autonomy and the curricular flexibility. It is searched too if were reached the objectives from Fale restructure proposal. From collected data, it was observed that exists advances in many aspects that are actual objects of criticism at department operations, consisting so in the important experience about operations of one academic structure, that it created new functions, commands, decisions instances, with more actions freedom for individuals and changing the manner of to conduct this academic unit.
