dc.description.abstractEste trabalho analisa a reorganização territorial do estado de Minas Gerais entre 1891 e 1939 e aborda as mudanças nas divisões municipais no período. Para isso, traça um histórico da evolução político-administrativa do Município no Brasil, analisando a influência das constituições federais na autonomia municipal. O estudo quantifica, espacializa e analisa a frequência da criação de municípios mineiros no período, identificando processos econômicos e territoriais na transição para o século XX e início da República. Cinco macrorregiões de análise foram delimitadas para agrupar os municípios conforme esses processos. O período de análise foi dividido em República Velha e Era Vargas. Os resultados revelaram que a maioria dos municípios criados se concentrou nas porções meridionais e leste de Minas Gerais, regiões predominantemente cafeicultoras. A pesquisa utilizou dados primários e secundários, com ilustrações para otimizar a compreensão espacial.
dc.description.abstractenThis paper analyzes the territorial reorganization of the state of Minas Gerais between 1891 and 1939 and adresses the changes in municipal divisions during this period. To this end, it traces a history of the political and administrative evolution of the Municipality in Brazil, analyzing the influence of federal constitutions on municipal autonomy. The study quantifies, spatializes and analyzes the frequency of the creation of municipalities in Minas Gerais during this period, identifying economic and territorial processes in the transition to the 20th century and the beginning of the Republic. Five macro-regions of analysis were delimited to group the municipalities according to these processes. The period of analysis was divided into the República Velha and the Vargas Era. The results revealed that most of the municipalities created were concentrated in the southern and eastern portions of Minas Gerais, predominantly coffee-growing regions. The research used primary and secondary data, with illustrations to optimize spatial understanding.
